Abstract
The contribution to the optical potential from the breakup reaction (a lpha-He-3) in the elastic scattering of 172 MeV alpha particles from N i-62 is investigated in a phenomenological fashion. A breakup part of the optical potential is introduced and the partial wave amplitudes of this part are compared with published values,of the breakup probabili ties for this reaction.
