R. Chaudhuri et al., FLUORESCENCE POLARIZATION ANISOTROPY AS A NOVEL TOOL FOR THE DETERMINATION OF CRITICAL MICELLAR CONCENTRATIONS, Journal of photochemistry and photobiology. A, Chemistry, 101(2-3), 1996, pp. 241-244
A new technique is proposed for the estimation of critical micellar co
ncentrations (cmcs) based on fluorescence polarization anisotropy (r)
measurements as a function of surfactant concentration ([surf]). Repre
sentative results are presented for Triton X 100 (TX 100), sodium dode
cyl sulphate (SDS) and cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB). The fi
rst and second cmc values (cmc1 and cmc2) obtained from break points i
n r vs. [surf] plots are in reasonable agreement with existing literat
ure data.
