Abstract
Viologen-carbazole linked compounds quenched photoexcited tris(2,2'-bi pyridine)ruthenium(II), abbreviated to Ru-trisbpy, much more efficient ly than simple viologen in aqueous solutions. The observation was ascr ibed to enhanced electron-transfer to partially dehydrated viologen as deduced from spectroscopic- and electeochemical evidences.
