Abstract
Among cationic complexes of platinum(II), [Pt(olefin)(NO2)(tmen)][ClO4 ] (olefin = ethene 1b, propene 2b, E-but-2-ene 3b, Z-but-2-ene 4b; tme n = N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine), complexes 2b and 3b have gi ven evidence for the formation of an intramolecular metallacycle resul ting from nucleophilic attack of one oxygen of the nitro ligand on the cis olefin which changes from an eta2- to sigma-co-ordination mode.
