Two cases of a rare virus-induced disease of Guinea pigs are described
. The animals had died because of a pneumonia. Large intranuclear vira
l inclusion bodies could be demonstrated in the endothelial cells of t
he lungs. In the second case inclusion bodies could be found additiona
lly in macrophages of the spleen and in macrophages, hepatocytes and e
ndothelial cells of the liver. By means of electron microscopy the vir
us could be specified as adenovirus.
