The formation processes of silverless photographic images consisting o
f iron(III) chelates with 8-sulfanylquinoline, 5-thiomethyl-8-sulfanyl
quinoline and 5-bromo-8-sulfanylquinoline from an initial silver image
on silver halide photographic layers by three-stage chemical processi
ng (bleaching, fixing and toning) have been obtained and analysed. It
has been determined that the redox process Fe-II-->Fe-III takes place
here and, also, the image carriers are Fe(OH)(2), FeO(OH) and the corr
esponding coordination compounds with an Fe-III ion-organic ligand rat
io of 1:3.
