In the paper there are discussed the results of the analysis of temper
ature and deformation rate influences on static mechanical properties
for Al-8Al4C3 system. The pronounced change of plastic properties was
shown in the temperature range of 350-450-degrees-C at the deformation
rate 10(-1) s-1 as a consequence of dynamic polygonizaton together wi
th the grain boundary sliding. The parameters of state equation and ap
parent activation energy of the deformation process (325 kJ m-1) were
evaluated. From the analysis of fracture micromechanisms follows that
low-temperature fractures have transcrystalline character, at the temp
eratures above 400-degrees-C the intercrystalline character of the fai
lure is dominant.
