Abstract
Four minor polar nitrogen compounds have been isolated from the New Ca ledonian marine sponge, Cymbastela cantharella. Three are the known pr oducts allantoin, homarine, and trigonelline and the fourth is novel. The structure of the new compound, pyraxinine (1), was shown to be 3-p yridylguanidine by spectroscopic analysis and synthesis.
