Severe hypokalemia and generalized flaccid paralysis developed in a 6-
year-old dog after furosemide administration for suspected congestive
heart failure. Muscle biopsies revealed severe myonecrosis and a nerve
biopsy was normal. After treatment of the hypokalemia, the dog was cl
inically normal within 16 days of complete paralysis, and nerve and mu
scle biopsies were normal within 30 days of complete paralysis.
