A method for separating the propagation loss, the reflection loss, and
the coupling loss in a pigtailed integrated electro-optic modulator i
s proposed. This method is based on the measurement of the reflected a
nd transmitted powers at the input and output ports of the device at i
ts on and off states, respectively. Experimental results are presented
