R. Kramer et al., FOLLOW-UP-STUDY OF THE SMOKING CESSATION PROGRAM OF A REHABILITATION CLINIC - PART OF QUALITY-ASSESSMENT OF CLINICAL REHABILITATION, Herz, Kreislauf, 29(2), 1997, pp. 61-64
The smoking cessation programme of a cardiological and pulmological re
habilitation clinic was evaluated during general quality-assessment. T
he programme consists of 5 sessions and is based on self-control techn
iques. 84.5% (n = 235) of all patients who had taken part in the study
(n = 278) had stopped smoking. This was verified by indirect Hb-CO co
ntrol measurement. 65.9% (n = 155) of these patients were still abstin
ent after 6 months and 65.8% (n = 102) of these patients made it witho
ut any relapse, however 34.2% (n = 53) have had at least one relaps bu
t have stopped smoking again afterwards. The results confirm the effec
tivity of this programme which is one part of a general health program
me in our rehabilitation clinic.
