Abstract
The effect of the ionic strength on the second acid-base equilibrium c onstant of various aminoacids was analysed by use of a quasi-lattice m odel for log gamma(+/-), over the ionic strength range 0.1-1.5 M. Such treatment provides an alternative to empirical or semi-empirical equa tions based on modified versions of Debye-Huckel limiting law obtained by including different ionic strength terms. An interpretation of the minimum of the curve in terms of the model employed is also given.
