Br. Hanson et K. Kaita, RESPONSE OF ELECTROMAGNETIC CONDUCTIVITY METER TO SOIL-SALINITY AND SOIL-WATER CONTENT, Journal of irrigation and drainage engineering, 123(2), 1997, pp. 141-143
The effect of soil salinity and soil-water content on the apparent soi
l electrical conductivity as measured with the EM-38 electromagnetic c
onductivity meter has been investigated. Results showed substantial ch
anges in the meter's readings as soil-water content changed. The highe
r the soil salinity, the more sensitive the meter's readings were to c
hanges in soil-water content. A linear relationship existed between so
il-water content and apparent electrical conductivity for each level o
f soil salinity over the range of measured soil-water contents.
