T. Gursel et al., INCREASED SERUM LEUKOTRIENE B-4 LEVEL IN THE ACTIVE STAGE OF RHEUMATOID-ARTHRITIS IN CHILDREN, Prostaglandins, leukotrienes and essential fatty acids, 56(3), 1997, pp. 205-207
The possible association of leukotriene B-4 (LTB(4))-like activity wit
h the development of active rheumatoid arthritis was studied in 25 chi
ldren with the disease and in 15 normal subjects. Serum LTB,-like acti
vity was found to be significantly higher in the active stage of the d
isease when compared with the values obtained from patients during the
inactive stage and from healthy children. No correlation was found be
tween LTB(4)-activity and other laboratory parameters, e.g. haemoglobi
n level, white cell count and erythrocyte sedimentation rate.
