We compare the ''rotation curves'' in self-consistent models of barred
galaxies with the ones of SBO's. The models are constructed with Schw
arzschild's method. The models reproduce the wavy pattern in the rotat
ion curves observed in most SBO galaxies. Depending on the local spati
al mass fraction of retrograde orbits, the line-of-sight velocity is l
owered or even negative. The local counter-rotation can be explained b
y retrograde orbits, without needing to invoke particular projection e
ffects. Another result is that the model minimizing the absolute value
of the total angular momentum is found to have a distribution functio
n similar to N-body bar one.
