GASTRIC-CANCER - RADIOLOGIC STAGING

Accurate staging is essential to the appropriate management of gastric cancer. The accuracy of and indications for cross-sectional imaging t echniques are discussed in the context of their relationship to laparo scopic staging. CT scan and endoscopic ultrasound have become the prim ary means of preoperative tumor staging by virtue of their ability to demonstrate the extent of mural invasion, extraluminal tumor spread, a nd lymph node and distant metastases.
