INTEGRATED PRODUCTION PLANNING AND CONTRO L-SYSTEM FOR THE LONGEST RAILS IN THE WORLD

Using state-of-the-art hard- and software, a production planning and c ontrol system has been installed which supports the order handling rou tines, ranging from customer order processing, and planning and contro l in the rolling mill, through to finishing and loading. The system ha s been fully operational for around two years and has led to shorter t hroughput times, reduced stock levels and a higher yield. All the proc ess- and quality-related data are logged at every stage of production, providing the data base for Total Quality Management.
