A LONG-PERIOD MODEL FOR THE MAGNETIC STAR GAMMA-EQUULEI

Linear polarimetry has enabled us to observe the rotation of the magne tic axis of the star gamma Equ (nearly 15-degrees over the period 1990 - 1993). Thus, the very long rotation period of more than 70 years, s uggested by previous authors, is now confirmed in a straightforward wa y. We propose numerical values for the various parameters which enter the oblique rotator model and we show that they are consistent with al l the available data on the magnetism of gamma Equ.
