M. Ebener et al., SOLID-STATE C-13 MAS NMR AS A TOOL FOR THE STUDY OF REACTIONS BETWEENCOMPOUNDS ADSORBED ON POROUS MATERIALS, Fresenius' journal of analytical chemistry, 357(5), 1997, pp. 505-507
It is shown that magic angle spinning (MAS) solid state C-13 NMR spect
roscopy is a valuable tool for the study of reactions between compound
s adsorbed on porous materials because it allows the direct characteri
zation of surface species. The mobility of the adsorbed species yields
high-resolution C-13 spectra at moderate spinning speeds (4 KHz) from
which the reactions can be traced. Catalysis of KMnO4 oxidation of al
cohols and proton transfer by the solid support is demonstrated.
