In terracing of the slopes on different elements of terraces the follo
wing conditions were prepared at initial stage of pedogenesis: soil-fo
rming substrate on the surface of the stage, so that the development o
f soil can be studied from zero moment. On the terrace edge the origin
al soil was covered by Avca horizon. The soil between individual terra
ce stages remained intact. The set of elementary soil processes, as af
fected by the initial stage of pedogenesis on individual elements of t
erraces, included agroturbation, carbonate-illuvial process, humus pro
duction and accumulation, formation of soil structure and siallitizati
on. Intensity and entrance into the set of mentioned elementary soil p
rocesses was different on individual elements of the terrace what had
an impact on humus reserves which attained 81.7 t.ha(-1) during the fi
rst 18 years in 20 cm layer of Apca horizon on the stage and 94.8 t.ha
(-1) in filling part in 20 cm layer of Avca horizon.
