Analysis of six breeders' lines of spelt (Triticum spelta L.) of the G
erman origin was carried out using signal genes which determined gliad
ins and the high molecular weight (HMW) glutenins of wheat grain. Elec
trophoretic spectra of gliadins were obtained by the method SGE (Sasek
, Sykorova, 1989); high molecular weight (HMW) glutenins by using the
method SDS-PAGE (sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electropho
resis; Laemmli, 1970). Allelic blocks of gliadin zones were separated
according to the procedure of Sobko, Poperelja (1986), allelic blocks
of zones of the HMW glutenins according to Payne et al. (1981, 1987, 1
988). In electrophoretic structure of gliadins new allelic blocks GLD
1-1A N3 and GLD 6B N11 were found, not classified till now. According
to the occurrence of allelic blocks of gliadins and HMW glutenins - ma
rkers of baking quality, frost hardiness and resistance to powdery mil
dew of cereals and grasses - potential agronomic value of tested new b
reeders' lines of spelt was assessed. Indices of identity of sets of a
llelic blocks of gliadins and HMW glutenins were used to evaluate the
relation of new breeders' lines of spelt tested.
