Ej. Bochove et al., ENERGY GAIN, STABILITY, AND BUNCHING IN GAS-LOADED HERMITE-GAUSSIAN LASER LINAC, Zeitschrift fur Naturforschung. A, A journal of physical sciences, 52(1-2), 1997, pp. 111-113
Gas-loaded Hermite-Gaussian laser linacs yield greater gain and intera
ction lengths then vacuum linacs, however, optical beam and drift tube
damage are not adequately alleviated in uniformly loaded devices. The
se problems can be resolved if the loading is graded so as to accommod
ate the phase velocity variation of the laser beam.
