Abstract
The paper considers two important aspects of finite element adaptive a nalysis: (i) a posteriori error estimation; (ii) automatic mesh genera tion. We fist present an introduction of the subject of accurate and r obust a posteriori error estimation. The problem of 3-D automatic mesh generation is then discussed in some detail.
