Abstract
The special search for the method of variation analysis allowing to re veal the regularities in its manifestation was undertaken. It is shown that in framework of current theory there was no place for attempt to analyse the properties of variation. The elaboration of the modern me thods of variation analysis is aimed primarily to enhance the mathemat ical facilities that allow to increase considerably the number of trai ts under consideration and to summarise the data on every trait. Such methods allow to analyse the reliability of resemblances and differenc es for the comparison of populations. separation of subspecies, etc., but they are nor suitable for the analysis of variation characteristic s. The new approach to variation measuring allows to analyse the sum o f traits, to estimate the probability of its combination and to reveal the variation regularities. The criterion allowing to compare the var iation in differently organized structures is proposed.
