F. Karaosmanoglu et al., BIODIESEL FROM RAPESEED OIL OF TURKISH ORIGIN AS AN ALTERNATIVE FUEL, Applied biochemistry and biotechnology, 61(3), 1996, pp. 251-265
The crude rapeseed oil was transesterified using methanol and using so
dium hydroxide as a catalyst, and the varieties affecting the monoeste
r yield were investigated. The methyl ester fuel called Biodiesel, pro
duced under the determined optimum reaction conditions, was tested acc
ording to the standard methods for its fuel properties. Biodiesel fuel
properties were found to be very close to those of Grade No. 2-D dies
el fuel.
