THE INTERACTION OF CU(II) AND NI(II) WITH OXYGEN-NITROGEN MIXED-DONORMACROCYCLES CONTAINING CROWN-ETHER MOIETIES

o(15-crown-5)-1,12-diaza-5,8-dioxacyclotetradecane [IL(2)] has been sy nthesized from 5)-1,12-diaza-5,8-dioxacyclotetradecane-1,11-diene [L(1 )] wich has synthesized by treating 1,4-bis(2'-formylphenyl)-1,4-dioxa butane with 4',5'-diaminobenzo(15-crown-5). The interaction of Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) ions with the following macrocycles [L(2)] and [L(1 )], each containing a N2O2 donor set, has been investigated. Physical measurements indicate that these rings from 1:1 complexes with the men tioned transition metal ions. Structures of the new macrocycles and th eir transition metal complexes are proposed based on elemental analyse s, H-1, C-13 NMR, IR, UV-VIS, mass spectra, magnetic susseptibility, a nd conductivity data.
