The aim of this work is to present a modeling scheme for the control o
f industrial complexes of continuous plants. Processes have interactio
ns among them. For this purpose the paper presents a theoretical suppo
rt of a generalized three level Hybrid Control model and the way to ac
hieve its implementation. The superior level is a supervisor for a Dis
crete Event Dynamic System while the lower level performs the control
for the process units in a Continuous/Discrete Event Dynamic System. T
he paper shows the interface between the continuous and discrete syste
ms and the supervision via optimization of the whole plant in a multi-
level, multi-modeled complex of process units. (C) 1997 Elsevier Scien
