THE EFFECTS OF DRAFT CONTROL ON COMBUSTION

Physical disturbances to boiler furnace pressure within which a combus tion process is taking place can cause undesirable effects including n uisance outages, sooting, and poor fuel efficiencies. Draft controls c an stabilize these disturbances and provide a more constant furnace pr essure. This paper discusses draft, draft control, and their effect on the combustion process in typical commercial and industrial watertube or firetube boilers. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
