Abstract
A novel manganese reagent, generated from KMnO4 and Me(3)SiCl, in the presence of a quaternary ammonium salt, is shown to smoothly dichlorin ate alkenes, open epoxides and chemoselectively oxidise sulfides to su lfoxides. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
