Abstract
In this study, by means of the matrix method it has been shown that an
y optical system parameterized by a transfer matrix [(A)(C) (B)(D)] ca
n be represented in the form of fractional Fourier transforms (FRFTs),
if suitable additional matrices are introduced into the system. Both
nondegenerate and degenerate cases have been considered and some examp
les have been given to illustrate the results.
