Abstract
Oncogene immortalisation has been used as an approach to isolate diffe rentiated rat liver cell lines. This paper describes the optimisation of the conditions for transfection and the characteristics of cell lin es isolated. The parenchymal origin of the immortalised lines recovere d has been demonstrated by the detection of albumin in the medium or b y bilirubin-UDP-glucuronosyl transferase activity. The lines have been characterised morphologically and expression of the cytoskeletal prot ein vimentin has been detected.
