Wa. Konig et al., ADULTERATION OR NATURAL VARIABILITY - ENANTIOSELECTIVE GAS-CHROMATOGRAPHY IN PURITY CONTROL OF ESSENTIAL OILS, HRC. Journal of high resolution chromatography, 20(2), 1997, pp. 55-61
The potential of enantioselective capillary gas chromatography with mo
dified cyclodextrins as chiral stationary phases for authenticity cont
rol is demonstrated for a selection of economically important essentia
l oils. Adulteration can be easily detected in cases where enantiomeri
cally pure constituents are present in natural oils. In cases of (natu
rally) varying enantiomeric compositions of chiral constituents, enant
ioselective gas chromatography may prove insufficient.
