The Comment addresses a long standing problem concerning folding model
calculations for the elastic scattering of Li-6 ions. We agree that t
he low-energy form of M3Y potential for the knockon exchange recommend
ed by the authors of the Comment does require a normalization of appro
ximately 0.7 for the real folded potential. However, the prescription
used in our paper, which better reflects the phenomenology of higher-e
nergy nucleon scattering, gives results that are consistent with a nor
malization of unity.
