Abstract
A generalized framework for the estimation of primary energy demand fo r parboiling and milling of paddy in India has been proposed. The depe ndence of both the electrical and thermal energy components of the dem and on different methods of parboiling and technologies for milling ha ve been considered. The possible uncertainties in the above estimation have also been identified A few numerical calculations have been made for some typical technology/product mix scenarios.
