PRESSURE-INDUCED LEVEL-CROSSING IN KZNF3CR3+

We report detection of the low-field-high-field transition in KZnF3:Cr 3+, induced by external pressure, through photoluminescence measuremen ts at both room temperature and T = 90 K. Direct measurement of the lo west electronic level separation DELTA was accomplished through lower- temperature experiments. Pressure coefficients of DELTA and values of the crystal-field and covalence quenched free-ion parameters are given .
