Abstract
The current sharing between inner and outer gas-puff sheaths is detect ed by direct current measurements. The conditions under which the curr ent sharing does not occur are experimentally found. A new preionizati on technique using a magnetron discharge in crossed E x H fields is te sted and its high efficiency is demonstrated. This technique is compar ed with the conventional technique using spark preionization.
