Abstract
A new methodological approach to pretreatment of X-rayed skeleton slic es of the massive coral Porites lutea by Principal Components Analysis (PCA) after Fourier's transformation is described. The primary digiti zed frame is filtered and separated into two frames: the first is asso ciated with growth bands information, here annual, and the second is l inked to mesoarchitecture signature (polyp size) and to record noise.
