X. Darmendrail et al., INTERPRETATION IN TERMS OF NEOTECTONICS O F GEOMORPHOLOGICAL IRREGULARITIES IN A VALLEY OF THE NORTH-WESTERN ALPS - THE GRESIVAUDAN, Comptes rendus de l'Academie des sciences. Serie 2, Mecanique, physique, chimie, sciences de l'univers, sciences de la terre, 318(6), 1994, pp. 815-821
The geomorphological markers studied along the eastern edge of the Gre
sivaudan valley reveal the existence of two normal faults at the foot
wall of the ''Collines bordieres'' of Belledonne. Geomorphological, st
ructural and geophysical surveys lead to the dating and quantification
of the vertical displacements. The downwarping of the valley is a con
sequence of transverse extensive tectonics (perpendicular to the alpin
e arc), which is a gravity response to the uplift of Belledonne.
