Abstract
Dynamic mechanical properties of Silastic HP-100 finger joint implants were studied. Sixteen sections of unimplanted and 14 sections of retr ieved implants were analyzed with standard thermal analysis techniques . Results show that implantation does not alter the viscoelastic prope rties of Silastic HP-100 elastomers. The authors conclude that fractur e of Silastic HP-100 implants cannot be attributed to changes in theol ogic properties of the implanted elastomer.
