Abstract
We present a determination of the topological susceptibility in quench ed QCD (pure gauge theory) through the deconfining phase transition. A clear drop is observed from the confined to the deconfined phase. The result is relevant for understanding the properties of QCD vacuum. Th e measurement has been made possible by an improvement of the lattice topological charge density operator.
