W. Frantz et al., KINETICS OF DEFECT REACTION IN FE52AL48 INVESTIGATED BY MAGNETOTHERMAL ANALYSIS, Journal of alloys and compounds, 247, 1997, pp. 206-209
The kinetics of the formation and of the annealing-out of Fe antistruc
ture atoms in the FeAl intermetallic compound of composition Fe52Al48
were investigated by magnetothermal analysis. Data confirm the results
previously found for Fe50Al50. The annealing-out depends appreciably
on the quenching temperature; the transition from one defect type (tri
ple defects) to another (pairs of defects) at approximately 850 degree
s C is verified. The migration enthalpies determined from annealing ex
periments with different heating rates are slightly higher than for th
e stoichiometric composition Fe50Al50.
