Abstract
The spectrophotometric determination of thyroxine sodium is based on r eaction of its amine group with nitrous acid (produced by reaction of mineral acid with sodium nitrite) in an ice cold bath (0-5 degrees C). It produces a stable yellow coloured compound under experimental cond itions with lambda(max) 420 nm. Beer's law is obeyed in the concentrat ion range 10-90 mu g ml(-1) with molar absorptivity 4.0x10(3) l mol(-1 ) cm(-1).
