Abstract
A sensitive method is described for the determination of trace amounts of vanadium(IV) by extractive spectrophotometry. The method utilises the ternary complex formed by reacting vanadium(IV) with Rhodamine 6G in the presence of 5,7-dichlorooxine. The method is sensitive (epsilon = 2.65x10(5) l mol(-1) cm(-1) at 515 nm). It is precise and was prove d by determining V(IV) in certified reference material.
