Abstract
Time-of-flight chemiluminescence measurements under crossed beam condi tions followed by a simulation analysis, has allowed us to determine t he translational energy threshold for the Ca(P-3(J)) + HBr --> CaBr(A (2) Pi)+ H reaction. Using this value and by means of energy balance r elations, we have estimated the dissociation energy of the CaBr to be, D-0(0)(CaBr) = 337 +/- 5 kJ mol(-1). A comparison with previously rep orted values is presented, which helps to clarify the discrepancy betw een them. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
