Abstract
On the basis of introduction of electromagnetic wave theory of modes i nto channel waveguides of anisotropic crystals and analysis of effecti ve index analytical method, the mode eigenvalue of channel waveguides with graded refractive index distributions has been obtained by combin ing the potential well model with WKB method. The mode cutoff characte r and single mode condition were deduced for the waveguides with eithe r step-like or graded refractive index distributions.
