Abstract
A semi-analytical method for modelling cascaded Mach-Zehnder add/drop multiplexers with a mode solver based on the film mode matching method is presented. Examples for an inverted rib waveguide structure are gi ven. They focus on the polarization dependence, etching tolerances and on the coupling which takes place at the circular access waveguides o f each directional coupler.
