L. Pintschovius et al., OBSERVATION OF SUPERCONDUCTIVITY-INDUCED PHONON FREQUENCY CHANGES IN THE ORGANIC SUPERCONDUCTOR K-(BEDT-TTF)(2)CU(NCS)(2), Europhysics letters, 37(9), 1997, pp. 627-632
Frequencies of transverse acoustic phonons were measured by inelastic
neutron scattering on single crystals of the organic superconductor ka
ppa-(BEDT-TTF)(2)Cu(NCS)(2). Significant frequency changes were observ
ed for phonon energies close to the superconducting energy gap 2 Delta
on cooling the sample below the superconducting transition temperatur
e T-c = 9.15 K. The observed relative shifts are large compared to tho
se in the classical superconductor Wb and also larger than the shifts
found recently in the high-T-c superconductor YBa2Cu3O7.
