Penile neuropathy is a common disease due to lesion of the sensory bra
nch of the pudendal nerve, ie, the dorsal nerve of the penis. Sexual d
isorders (deterioration of erection) and sensory signs (hypoesthesia o
r paresthesia of the penis) are noted in patients with penile neuropat
hy. Electrophysiological recordings help guide the diagnosis (reductio
n of the sensory velocity of the dorsal nerve of the penis). Many etio
logies can be found (traumatic, toxic, compressive), but the most comm
on lesion is neuropathy related to diabetes.
