A non-linear model of plant growth involving competition for nutrient
uptake and its diffusion through the soil has been proposed and studie
d analytically. It is observed that the vertical depth of rooting is d
irectly related to plant biomass and competition coefficient of the pl
ants. We have shown that the results obtained from the proposed model
also explain the experimental field data of the seasonal plants to a l
arge extent.
