Abstract
Reaction of [(Me(3)Si)(2)N](2)V(thf)(BH4) with excess diphenylacetylen e leads to the formation of the bicyclic carbene complex Si)(2)NVN(SiM e(3))SiMe(2)CH(2)C(Ph)C(Ph)C(Ph)C(Ph) 1 which is isolated as brown dia magnetic crystals cocrystallized with trans-stilbene; the same compoun d trans-stilbene-free is also prepared via reaction of {[(Me(3)Si)(2)N ]V[mu-CH(2)SiMe(2)N(SiMe(3))]}(2) with 4 equiv. of diphenylacetylene.
